Dina Nouaime OC ‘23

Shanxi Agricultural University, China (2023-25)

Dina Nouaime (she/her) ‘23, a Politics and East Asian Studies double major, initially planned to study economics before discovering her love for language learning at Oberlin. Dina quickly embedded herself into life at the college through academics, athletics, and community engagement. Her numerous roles have reflected her passions for community-building and mentorship: working as a Peer Advising Leader, captaining the women’s tennis team and coordinating events for the Asian Diaspora Coalition. Furthermore, Dina volunteered on campus as an Asian Student Mentor and Representative for the Student Athlete Advising Committee. In summer 2022, she worked as a coordinator for Asian American advocacy organization OCA-NY, where she solidified her dedication to providing accessible education to foster community and cultivate political advocacy. To uplift voices in Oberlin, she received the Shansi AAPI Experience Grant, allowing her to use her artwork to highlight local narratives. As a Shansi Fellow, Dina aims to improve as an educator and mentor while expanding her linguistic abilities and is excited to grow and learn no matter where she goes.
