Kara Nepomuceno OC ‘20

Kara is a Dance and Biology Major with a minor in Comparative American Studies. At Oberlin, Kara facilitated first-year workshops and helped to train fellow student leaders through the Peer Advising Leaders Program. A Co-chair of the Filipino American Students Association, Kara organized educational programs and performances in the Oberlin Asian American community. Receiving the Shansi In-Asia Grant in Winter 2019, she developed research in performance studies and regional dances of Southeast Asia. She shared her work at the Asia Pacific Dance Festival Conference in August 2019. Kara looks forward to developing as an artist, researcher, and educator, exploring the ways communities navigate contemporary experiences through language and movement. She is excited to be a Shansi Fellow.
